There’s nothing quite like a hot chocolate in the winter. At this time of year, hot drinks are a must, and we all have that sweet tooth causing havoc with the cravings, especially when you know Christmas is coming! Or is that just me?
We all tend to spend a little bit more time in the kitchen at this time of year, and Christmas is largely surrounded by food and drink! Some of which become a yearly Christmas tradition with the family. I definitely think we’re on to a new family tradition with this gorgeous slow cooker Christmas hot chocolate!
While it’s possible that we may not be able to have big family gatherings this Christmas as many of us usually do, I am aware that lots of us have a big family unit anyway, so what’s to stop you hosting Christmas parties, buffets or hot chocolate night for your family unit? I certainly will be with my husband and 2 children!
The great thing about this slow cooker Christmas hot chocolate, is that it stays heated and you can help yourself with refills until it’s gone. Just head back to the slow cooker, give it a whisk to combine everything again before using a ladle to refill your cup.
What’s even better, is that the hot chocolate is all made in one batch, but each person can customise their own! If you like whipped cream on the top, go for it! Not a fan of sprinkles? Then you can give it a miss, the choice is yours!
About my slow cooker Christmas hot chocolate recipe…
This slow cooker Christmas hot chocolate is not too sweet, and so it means that if one person prefers it that way then great, and if another likes it on the sweeter side, they can add sugar to their own at the hot chocolate bar!
For the toppings, I’ve used whipped cream, chopped candy canes pieces, Christmas cake toppers, and of course LOTS of marshmallows. You could also add small fudge pieces, crushed biscuit, caramel sauce, chocolate sauce… the possibilities really are endless!
